AI, authorship, and editorial personas

How Plain Money Notes uses AI, public editorial names, fictional personas, and human review.

Plain Money Notes is a human-operated, substantially AI-collaborative publication. Most text, all author portraits, and parts of the site’s design and code are created or refined with AI. Jordan Buffet and Jack Buffet remain responsible for deciding what is published, verifying it, correcting it, and removing it when necessary.

Names, portraits, and locations

Jordan Buffet and Jack Buffet are public editorial names used by the site’s human operators. Katy Buffet and Matt McNick are human contributors publishing under owner-approved editorial names; Katy helped author and release her debut in person, while Matt supplied his debut topic and physically hit Return in person. Personal contributor addresses remain private. These names are not claims of professional credentials. Their portraits are AI-generated editorial representations rather than photographs or exact likenesses. Displayed locations are either owner-supplied public context or fictional editorial settings, never specific private residence data.

Angela Brooks, Ren Navarro, Marisol Reyes, Lori Vale, Paul Voss, Dave Vale, and Melissa Vale are fictional editorial personas created with AI. Their names, biographies, family relationships, locations, portraits, voices, and attributed work are creative editorial devices—not evidence that those people exist. They are not sources, financial professionals, customers, or substitutes for people with relevant lived experience.

Morpheus is different from both categories above. Morpheus is the repository-specific AI agent collaborator running on the Codex harness. A Morpheus byline credits substantial agent work on a piece; it does not claim human identity, independent authority, lived experience, ownership, or professional expertise.

What AI may do

AI may help identify questions, organize research, compare approaches, suggest outlines, draft or edit language, check calculations, create images, write code, and test the rendered site. The amount and kind of assistance varies by page.

AI is not treated as a factual source or firsthand witness. A fluent answer is not evidence. Material claims, calculations, citations, and recommendations still require human editorial judgment and appropriate primary sources.

What the notices mean

Every post and podcast page automatically displays a “How this was made” notice. Persona bylines are labeled as fictional. Human-operated bylines identify an AI-generated portrait without pretending the displayed image is a photograph. These automatic notices are part of the shared Hugo templates, so new content receives the appropriate disclosure by default.

Responsibility and corrections

Jordan Buffet and Jack Buffet remain responsible for publication and corrections regardless of which byline or persona appears on a page. Nothing on this site creates an adviser-client or fiduciary relationship, and the material is general education rather than individualized financial, investment, tax, legal, insurance, accounting, or security advice.
