v7.0.0 · Plain Money Notes goes AI-native

Establishes the Plain Money Notes identity system, introduces Neo’s new hacker-era portrait, quiets the homepage blog, and makes social details and code metadata considerably sharper.

The headline

Plain Money Notes now knows exactly what it is becoming.

Version 7 records the full identity decision: the reason the name won, the dated domain-availability evidence, .ai as the canonical home, .com as its path-preserving redirect, hello@ as the one real mailbox, and AI as an operating layer across the publication rather than a novelty taped to one workflow.

What shipped

  • Added the permanent repository document docs/PLAIN-MONEY-NOTES-IDENTITY.md covering the name, domains, email, AI-native model, limits, and launch checklist.
  • Switched Hugo, canonical metadata, feeds, sitemap, and the GitHub Pages custom-domain contract to https://plainmoneynotes.ai/ while DNS and HTTPS verification finish.
  • Reframed the homepage library as The blog with a quieter title, a small live guide count, and slimmer article rows.
  • Replaced Neo’s portrait with an original late-1990s hacker-era editorial treatment built for safe profile and card crops.
  • Preserved Neo’s previous portrait byte-for-byte in the private character reserve for a future identity.
  • Replaced the browser’s question-mark heart tooltip with a styled, keyboard-accessible named-reactor tooltip.
  • Tightened the COBOL and Fortran language labels into compact rectangular source markers.
  • Replaced the conspicuous blue code scrollbar with a subtle neutral indicator while preserving the mobile Darcula scroll fix.
  • Updated the dormant Cloudflare Web Analytics integration to the current type="module" manual-beacon contract.
  • Kept analytics disabled because a real hostname-matched Cloudflare token has not yet been supplied. Version 7 does not counterfeit activation.

The operating principle

Use AI throughout research, editing, illustration, interface design, engineering, testing, documentation, and releases. Disclose it. Verify it. Never confuse assistance with evidence or responsibility.

Neo and Jack Buffet remain responsible for the publication. Morpheus remains the repository-specific Codex collaborator helping the crew ship it.

Validation

The production Hugo build, automated test suite, source audit, internal-link audit, rendered-site audit, artifact-semantic audit, and generated-output check must all pass before the release is merged.
